| heal.abstract | The wedding folk-songs are organically incorporated in the structure of the wedding rites in a way that makes them on the one hand functional elements in the ritual process, on the other a means of expression, instillation and reproduction of a specific ethos and ideology which correspond to the structures and power relations that characterize the family as well as the wider community. This thesis is supported by the use of the ethnographic paradigm of the wedding rituals in Epirus as they are described by K. Siontis in his book «The Epirotic Wedding» (Jannina 1973). The theoretical frame of analysis draws on the classic study of A. van Gennep «The Rites of Passage». | el |
