| heal.abstract | Στόχος της παρούσας εργασίας είναι να διερευνηθεί η έννοια των αστικών κενών στην Παλαιά Λευκωσία κατά μήκος της νεκρής ζώνης, στις κατοικημένες περιοχές, και να αποδειχθεί η πολυσημία και η δυναμική αυτών των κενών ως δημόσιος χώρος και ως πολιτισμικά τοπία, οι οποίοι με τους κατάλληλους χειρισμούς μπορούν να επανέλθουν στους μηχανισμούς της πόλης. Εκτός των αστικών κενών ένα ακόμα κύριο πρόβλημα του ιστορικού κέντρου είναι η εγκατάλειψη και η έλλειψη δημόσιου χώρου, λόγω των ιστορικών γεγονότων αλλά και λόγω της δομής της πόλης. Δίνεται έμφαση λοιπόν σε αυτούς του εν αναμονή περιεχομένου τόπους πλησίον της πράσινης γραμμής (στις ελεύθερες περιοχές), με σκοπό να ζωντανέψουν ξανά οι δημόσιοι χώροι, με ήπιες σχεδιαστικές παρεμβάσεις και εφήμερες δράσεις, καθιστώντας τους βιώσιμους και φιλικούς προς τους κατοίκους. Μέσα από την έρευνα αναδεικνύεται το κενό ως χώρος κλειδί για την βιωσιμότητα που δύναται να προσφέρει μέσω της ανάπτυξης που παρέχει, ανακουφίζοντας τον αστικό ιστό, συμβάλλοντας στην αναβάθμιση του περιβάλλοντος της Λευκωσίας, στην καλύτερη ποιότητα ζωής, στην κοινωνικοποίηση, στη διάδραση των πολιτών, στην ευαισθητοποίηση και οικειοποίηση των κατοίκων με τους χώρους αυτούς οι οποίοι είναι ενταγμένοι στην καθημερινότητά τους, και ταυτόχρονα στην ανάδειξη της πολιτιστικής και ιστορικής ταυτότητας της πόλης. Όλες οι προσπάθειες ως σύνολο θα δημιουργούν τις προϋποθέσεις για την έναρξη μιας διαδικασίας μετασχηματισμού της σχέσης του πολίτη με την πόλη. | el |
| heal.abstract | The purpose of this paper is to investigate the concept of urban voids in the Old Town of Nicosia along the Buffer Zone, in residential areas and to prove the polysemy and potentiality of these voids as a public space and as cultural landscapes, which with appropriate handling could be reintegrated into the mechanisms of the city. Apart from the urban voids, another major problem of the historic center is the abandonment and absence of public space, due to the historical events and also due to the structure of the city. Emphasis is therefore placed on these landscapes near the green line (within unoccupied areas) in order to revive the public spaces, with gentle design interventions and ephemeral actions, making them sustainable and friendly to the residents. In this research the void emerges as a key space for the sustainability - provided through its development - alleviating the urban fabric, contributing to the upgrade of the environment of Nicosia and to a better quality of life, to socialization, to community interactions, to the sensitization and appropriation of the inhabitants with these places, integrated in their daily life, and simultaneously to the promotion of the cultural and historical identity of the city. These efforts will create the conditions for the beginning of a transformation process of the citizen's relation with the city. | en |
