| heal.abstract | Η άγονη και σκληροτράχηλη Μάνη καταλαμβάνει τμήματα των νομών Λακωνίας και Μεσσηνίας. Αν και άρρηκτα συνδεδεμένη με τη συμβολή της στη νεότερη ιστορία, η περιοχή διαθέτει πλούσια αρχαιολογικά κατάλοιπα που ανάγονται στη βυζαντινή περίοδο. Παρόλο που οι βυζαντινοί ναοί της είναι ταπεινά οικοδομήματα, μικρών διαστάσεων, οι κτιτορικές επιγραφές μερικών από αυτούς αποτελούν σημαντικό ιστορικό τεκμήριο. Σημείο ενδιαφέροντος αποτελούν οι επιγραφές στις οποίες γίνεται αναφορά ανέγερσης και εικονογράφησης του ναού με τη συνδρομή είτε μιας ομάδας ατόμων, είτε ολόκληρου του οικισμού. Το πρωιμότερο παράδειγμα απαντάται στην περιοχή τον 11ο αιώνα, ενώ γνωρίζει ιδιαίτερη διάδοση κατά την ύστερη βυζαντινή περίοδο. Σε επιγραφές με το ίδιο περιεχόμενο, από τον 13ο αιώνα και έπειτα αναγράφονται αναλυτικά οι προσφορές του εκάστοτε κτίτορα, είτε με τη μορφή νομισμάτων, είτε με την παραχώρηση ακίνητης περιουσίας. Η μελέτη των επιγραφών αυτών παρουσιάζει μια κοινωνία της υπαίθρου ανεξάρτητη από την αυτοκρατορική εξουσία, αυτάρκης και με ενισχυμένο το αίσθημα της συλλογικότητας. Παράλληλα παρουσιάζονται η οικονομία και η κοινωνική οργάνωση της περιοχής, σε μία εποχή όπου οι πληροφορίες για τη Μάνη είναι ελλιπείς. | el |
| heal.abstract | Famous for its rough landscape, Mani occupies regions of Laconia and Messenia. Although the region is connected with the Modern Greek history, there are plenty of archaeological monuments surviving from the byzantine era. Although the byzantine churches are humble monuments, their dedicatory inscriptions are interesting and valuable historical sources. Most of these inscriptions refer that either a group of people or the whole village contributed to the constructions and the wall paintings of the local churches. The schema of the collective donation is first attested in the region at the second half of the 11th century and became more popular after the 13th century. Also in the inscriptions of the late byzantine period is referred that the patrons did not hesitate to offer money or cultivated land or even trees in order to build a church. It was quite common in Mani. The study of these inscriptions represents a society independent from the byzantine emperor`s authority, self-sufficient, where the collectiveness was flourished. Moreover, these inscriptions provides us information concerning the economy and the social structure of a rural region, Mani, for which little is known in the byzantine sources. | en |
