This volume includes papers presented at the 9th international conference “The Economies of the Balkan and the Eastern European Countries in the Changing World”—EBEEC 2017. It was organized jointly by the TEI of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Department of Accounting and Finance (Greece); the Piraeus University of Applied Sciences, Department of Accounting and Finance (Greece); and the University of Piraeus, Department of International and European Studies. It took place in Athens, Greece, on April 28–30, 2017. The conference’s general aim to present scientific papers and researches of theoretical and empirical character about the economies and business in this region brought together more than 140 papers prepared by more than 300 authors from 30 countries from the region and all over the world. The proceedings of the conference are of great interest since the papers are the scientific results of researches regarding current issues in international economies, European integration, economic growth, economic crises, macroeconomics, finance, banking, stock market, accounting, education, tourism, labor market, energy, inno- vation, management, and marketing in the wider area of Eastern Europe. Our aim is to highlight that there are new and genuine knowledge and ideas of scientists in economics and in several specific fields like business, finance, European economies, macroeconomics, tourism, labor market, management, and marketing. The region of the Balkans and Eastern Europe is, after all, a region that has played an important role in the European and world history and has affected processes and changes in the economies of all European countries.en
