Chromatographic behaviour and lipophilicity of Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes of py-2-carbaldehyde tiosemicarbazone with potential biological activityen
The chromatographic behaviour and relative lipophilicity of Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes of pyridine-2-carbaldehyde tiosemicarbazone with potential biological activity have been determined by reversed-phase thin-layer chromatography using amino, diol and CN plates (Macherey-Nagel) and methanol water mixture as eluent. The classical R-Mo-values were compared with the factors scores obtained by principal component analysis based also on the RP-TLC retention data. The reliability of R-Mo-values and factor scores described by the first principal components as lipophilicity indices have been tested by comparison with biological data concerning the effect of compounds on sister chromatid exchange (SCE) rate and human lymphocyte proliferation kinetics (proliferation rate index; PRI) and antitumour activity on leukemia-P388-bearing mice. Good correlations were obtained.en
