heal.abstractThe cationic transannular polymerization of cis,cis-1,5-cyclooctadiene (COD) initiated by Ziegler-Natta catalysts of the type Cp2MCl2 (M = Ti, Zr, Hf) with various alkylaluminium compounds, such as Et3Al, Et2AlCl and Et3Al2Cl3, was studied. The order of activity of these catalysts depends on the metal and the cocatalyst and was found to be: Ti > Zr > Hf and Et3Al2Cl3 > Et2AlCl > Et3Al. M(w)BAR of the resulting oligomers are approximately 800-1800. By means of H-1-NMR, i.r., GPC and TG/DTG analyses, the transannular character of the polymers was also confirmed.en
