| heal.abstract | Τhe following thesis consists of Preface, Introduction, Two Main Chapters, Critical Overview – Conclusions, Bibliography and an English Summary. More specifically, in the First Chapter, entitled “Happiness as the final purpose of act and the function of man according to Aristotle”, an extended presentation of Aristotle’ s views regarding the content of the notion of happiness the way of acquiring it has taken place. Moreover, it is attempted to be fully understood the way that happiness is connected with the familiar function of man as man as this function is being determined by Aristotle in Nicomachean Ethics (Ηθικά Νικομάχεια). Considering that happiness constitutes the cornerstone of aristotelian ethics, it is of a privotal significance to conceive happiness in connection with the teleological Aristotle’ s outlook regarding man. In the Second Chapter, which is entitled “Friendship as factor of happiness in aristotelian ethics”, a detailed presentation and analysis of the notion of friendship in the practical – content works of Aristotle is being attempted. Friendship is the leading concept in aristotelian ethics and for this reason the parts that are being examined in this chapter are the quality features of friendship and its types. Another point that is particularly emphasized is the definition of friendship in Aristotle’s Rhetoric, whereas the notions of politics and friendship are being presented as well. Friendship according to aristotelian teaching consists a major social virtue. The significance that is attributed to it by the Stagerean philosopher is reflected in the fact that two among his ten books of Nicomachean Ethics (the eighth and nineth) focus on the development of this matter. In the part “Critical Overview - Conclusions” , the emphasis is being given in the relationship of happiness and friendship and more specifically to which extent friendship constitutes a factor of happiness whereas it is attempted to be given an answer in the question if happy man needs friends. Furthermore, the following view is being documented: the natural trend of man for the establishment of friendship bonds constitutes the proof of his social nature. Finally, the thesis is being completed with the presence of Bibliography that has been used and with the English Summary. | en |
