| heal.abstract | Thirty years have passed (1985) since the death (1955) of the prominent Britiah philhellene, archaeologist, linguist (above all, dialecto- logiat) and folklorist R.M. Dawkina. This anniversary brings to our attention Dawkins* contribution to the Greek Folklore in general and the Folklore of Dodecanese in particular, ft is well known that he was charmed by the Folklore of Dodecanese to which he devoted hia long-lasting searching passion. The need for a critical survey and estimation of Dawkins’ contribution to the Greek Folklore (especially his research and study of the folktales) is strongly felt (as it is, at the same time, necessary an evaluation of his archaeological and dialectological researches)1. This wider work should aim at analyzing his work and pointing out the importance of his work and pointing out the importance of his contribution. A task which is, of course, beyond the scope of the present paper, which, besides a short outline, gives, as well, to its limitations, a complete picture of Dawkins* folklore researches on Dodecanese, and at the same time underlines their importance on the international scientific research. | en |
