Στην συγκεκριμένη πτυχιακή εργασία, βασικό στοιχείο μελέτης αποτελεί η Κρητική παράδοση, η οποία και λόγω του γεωγραφικού μεγέθους και θέσης του νησιού, αλλά και λόγω της ιστορίας του τόπου, είναι αρκετά πλούσια και επομένως άκρως σημαντική για την πολιτιστική ταυτότητα της χώρας. Η Κρητική παράδοση λοιπόν θα μελετηθεί μέσα από το πρίσμα της τηλεόρασης, ενός από τα πιο σημαντικά ΜΜΕ για την επικοινωνία της παράδοσης. Εξετάζοντας λοιπόν τον ρόλο των ΜΜΕ στην διατήρηση της παράδοσης, θα μελετηθεί ο τρόπος με τον οποίο η παράδοση έχει προβληθεί από τους τηλεοπτικούς δέκτες από τα τέλη του 20ου αιώνα μέχρι και σήμερα. Η εκπομπή «Ελλήνων Δρώμενα επιλέχθηκε ως μια μακρόβια εκπομπή με διάρκεια στο χρόνο και ως εκ τούτου, κρίθηκε ένα αντιπροσωπευτικό δείγμα για την μελέτη της διαμεσολάβησης της παράδοσης μέσω της τηλεόρασης.
Στόχοι της εργασίας είναι να ερευνηθεί η μέθοδος που χρησιμοποιεί η συγκεκριμένη εκπομπή και να συνδεθεί με τον αντίκτυπο που αυτή έχει στην παράδοση και στην διάρκειά της στον χρόνο. Αξιολογώντας την εκπομπή με βάση τον κύκλο του πολιτισμού του Hall (1997) θα ερευνηθεί εάν αυτός εκπληρώνεται και πώς αυτό συνδέεται με την διαφύλαξή της και την διάρκειά της στον χρόνο.
This thesis focuses on Cretan tradition as a central element of study, which, due to the island’s geographic size, location, and rich history, holds great significance for the cultural identity of Greece. Cretan tradition will be examined through the lens of television, one of the most important mass media for the communication of tradition. By exploring the role of mass media in the preservation of tradition, this study investigates how tradition has been showcased on television screens from the late 20th century to the present day. The program Ellinon Dromena was selected as a long-running show with enduring relevance, deemed a representative sample for studying the mediation of tradition through television. The objectives of this thesis are to examine the methods used by this particular program and to connect them to the impact it has on tradition and its longevity over time. By evaluating the program through the lens of Hall’s (1997) cultural circuit, this research investigates whether the circuit is fulfilled and how this connects to the preservation and continuity of tradition over time.
