| heal.abstract | It is known that Epirus had been liberated during the years 1912-1913 by the Greek Army which penetrated as far as the districts of Argyrocastro, Chimarra and Korytsa. Within the frames of the First World War the Italians occupated military the larger part of Epirus (Summer 1917) and managed the various affairs of this Greek region according to their own interests. The present paper deals with the thematic of the existing documents referring to the occupation, which we apportioned, for reasons of method, in three general thematic units: a) military - of the police matters, e.g. the delimitation of the Italian zone of occupation, the Triangle of Pogoni and the moves of the soldiers or civil employees through this, etc.; b) documents concerning the social conditions of the population and the problems in the greek-italian relations, e.g. the Italian propaganda to the Vlaches of Pindus, the prohibition of teaching the greek language that was imposed by the Italians, etc.; c) papers which reveal the diversified interference of the Italians in the economical relations, especially in the country, e.g. the collection of the farming taxes, the commissariat of the italian army, the provisioning of the territories under occupation, the exploitation of the natural resources, etc. All these documents, in spite of the lacks or dispersions, are very useful for the historians of this period. | en |
