| heal.abstract | Στόχος της διπλωματικής μου εργασίας είναι να παρουσιάσω και να αναλύσω τα δυο είδη ευθανασίας της ενεργητικής και της παθητικής καταλήγοντας έτσι σε ηθική αποτίμηση της μιας έναντι της άλλης. Το εισαγωγικό σημείωμα της εργασίας μου κάνει αναφορά στον όρο της ευθανασίας και στην έννοια του θανάτου από την αρχαιότητα μέχρι και σήμερα. Στο πρώτο κεφάλαιο της εργασίας, ασχολούμαι με την ιστορική αναδρομή του όρου ευθανασία, την πορεία του όρου που ξεκινά στην αρχαιότητα καταλήγοντας στην εξέλιξη του όρου στη σημερινή εποχή. Αναφέρομαι ακόμη στη διάκριση ανάμεσα στην ενεργητική και τη παθητική ευθανασία στον τρόπο δηλαδή, με τον οποίο θα γίνει η πράξη της ευθανασίας, και προχωρώ σε μια σύντομη ανάλυση αυτής της διάκρισης. Στο δεύτερο κεφάλαιο παρουσιάζω σύντομα, βασικά επιχειρήματα που τίθενται τόσο υπέρ όσο και κατά της πράξης της ευθανασίας με κάθε τρόπο όπως είναι αυτό της αξιοπρέπειας, του χριστιανισμού, και του ολισθηρού κατήφορου. Στο τρίτο κεφάλαιο αναλύω την έννοια της αυτονομίας και το πώς εκλαμβάνουν την έννοια αυτή ο John Stuart Mill και ο Imannuel Kant. Παραθέτω παράλληλα, τις δυο καίριες θέσεις των δυο παραπάνω φιλοσόφων ως προς το ζήτημα της ευθανασίας, δηλαδή τη πλευρά των ωφελιμιστών και τη πλευρά των δεοντολόγων ως προς το παραπάνω ζήτημα. Στο τελευταίο και πιο εκτενές κεφάλαιο της εργασίας μου πραγματεύομαι συντόμως τη διάκριση της ευθανασίας σε εκούσια, μη εκούσια και ιατρικά υποβοηθούμενη αυτοκτονία. Έπειτα, στέκομαι στη δεύτερη διάκριση που απασχολεί και την εργασία μου, ανάμεσα δηλαδή στην ενεργητική και την παθητική ευθανασία, παραθέτοντας και τη γνώμη μου για την ηθική ορθότητα της πρώτης έναντι της δεύτερης, μέσω της παρουσίασης των επιχειρημάτων του James Rachels και του Thomas Sullivan σχετικά με τη διάκριση αυτή. | el |
| heal.abstract | My aim in this M.A. Dissertation is to present and analyze the two types of euthanasia, active and passive euthanasia, thus attempting moral evaluation of the one against the other. The introductory chapter of my dissertation refers to the term of euthanasia and to the concept of death from antiquity to the present day. As far as the first chapter of the work is concerned, I deal with the historical retrospective of the term euthanasia, the course of the term that begins in ancient times and end up with the development of the term in contemporary discussions. I am still referring to the distinction between active and passive euthanasia, in the way in which the act of euthanasia will take place, and I proceed to a brief analysis of this distinction. In the second chapter, I present briefly, basic arguments that stand so in favour as and against the act of euthanasia in any way such as that of dignity, Christianity, and to the slippery slope argument. In the third chapter I analyze the concept of autonomy and how John Stuart Mill and Imannuel Kant interpret this concept. I critically engange quote at the same time, with the two key positions of the two above philosophers regarding the issue of euthanasia, ie the aspect of the utilitarians and the aspect of the deontologists to the above issue. In the last and most extensive chapter of my work, I briefly discuss the distinction of euthanasia into voluntary, non-voluntary and physician assisted suicide. Then, I focus on the second distinction that concerns my work, including active and passive euthanasia, and I analyze give my position on the moral correctness of the first versus the second, by relying and presenting the arguments offered by James Rachels and Thomas Sullivan on with this distinction. | en |
