A biomimetic tris-imidazole/Mn(II) system for homogeneous catalytic epoxidation of olefins with H(2)O(2)en
A biomimetic tris-imidazole ligand, herein called L(3imid), has been synthesized. The complexes formed by its association with Mn(II) have been evaluated for catalytic alkene epoxidation with H(2)O(2). The catalytic efficiency of Mn(II)/L(3imid) system was shown to be switched on by ammonium acetate, with remarkable effectiveness and selectivity towards epoxides. The incorporation of the biomimetic ligand L(3imid) which combines structural features as Schiff base imine-groups and imidazole rings is considered to be related with the enhanced catalytic activity of the Mn(II)/L(3imid) system.
