| heal.abstract | This article aims to reconstruct the relationship between man and AI as illustrated in Spike Jonze’s film Her (2013). On the occasion of the film’s key motif, a love affair between a man and a female AI entity, we deal with issues such as language or emotions. The line that separates the world of humans from the world of thinking machines is approached through the emotional involvement of the film’s main characters that causes existential angst in both man and machine. Their complex relationship is gradually built on a background of aesthetic, moral and mental ambiguities which, through director’s choices regarding filming, colors and the use of light, reveal continuities and ruptures in protagonist’s life. This background under- determines the relationship between our present and the film’s not-so-foreign future as well as the reflection on the boundaries between the utopian setting in the foreground of the film and the hidden dystopia in its background. | en |
