Η εργασία εξετάζει τη σχέση μεταξύ των εκθέσεων τέχνης και των χώρων στους οποίους αυτές παρουσιάζονται, εστιάζοντας στην πόλη της Αθήνας. Ως πρωτεύουσα της Ελλάδας, η Αθήνα αντικατοπτρίζει τη γενικότερη πολιτιστική στρατηγική της χώρας. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση δίνεται σε εκθεσιακούς χώρους που διαφοροποιούνται από τα καθιερωμένα πρότυπα, καθένας για διαφορετικούς λόγους. Στη μελέτη παρουσιάζονται τέσσερα χαρακτηριστικά παραδείγματα: το Εθνικό Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης (ΕΜΣΤ), το Καπνεργοστάσιο στην οδό Λένορμαν, ο ΑΗΣ Φαλήρου και τα κτίρια στο κέντρο της Αθήνας: το πρώην Εμπορικό Κέντρο Fokas, τα πρώην Δικαστήρια Σανταρόζα στην Πλατεία Δικαιοσύνης και το Μέγαρο Σλήμαν-Μελά που φιλοξένησαν την 7η Μπιενάλε Αθήνας. Μέσα από συγκεκριμένα εκθεσιακά γεγονότα, διερευνάται η αλληλεπίδραση των χώρων με τις εκθέσεις και το κοινό τους. Επιπλέον, επιχειρεί να απαντήσει αν και σε ποιο βαθμό οι χώροι που δεν σχεδιάστηκαν εξαρχής για εκθεσιακή χρήση επηρεάζουν την εμπειρία της έκθεσης. Παράλληλα, εξετάζεται πώς η θέση αυτών των χώρων στον αστικό ιστό μπορεί να συμβάλει στη διαμόρφωση της αστικής εμπειρίας.
The paper examines the relationship between art exhibitions and the spaces in which they are presented, focusing on the city of Athens. As the capital of Greece, Athens reflects the country's overall cultural strategy. Particular emphasis is placed on exhibition spaces that differ from conventional norms, each for different reasons. The study presents four characteristic examples: the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST),the Tobacco Factory on Lenormann Street, and the buildings in the center of Athens: the former Fokas Shopping Centre, the former Santarosa Courts in Justice Square and the Schliemann-Mela Mansion which hosted the 7th Athens Biennale. Through specific exhibition events, the interaction of the spaces with the exhibitions and their audiences is explored. The paper attempts to answer whether and to what extent spaces that were not designed for exhibition use in the first place affect the exhibition experience. It also considers how the location of these spaces within the urban fabric may contribute to shaping the urban experience.
