| heal.abstract | In Cyprus historiography was established the conclusion that the proscribed and the executed Cypriots in the summer of 1821 were 486, a number which has never verified. The same maintains and G. Kipiadis, but according to his book, which is a source of reference for all the relevant studies, the number of proscribed Cypriots who are recorded is only 87, out of whom 68 were executed and 19 escaped. In this same historiography there is no information or witness resulting of Ottoman sources. This study, relied on a bulky Ottoman defter which is kept in the Archives of the national Library of Sofia, comes to complete the specific absence of information. According to the above Ottoman defter the proscribed Cypriots were 96 out of whom 74 were executed while the rest 22 escaped death. | el |
