Description

Antiproton annihilation at rest in gaseous hydrogen (16 bar pressure) to the final states rho(770)X and f(2)(1270)X, where X stands for one or more neutral mesons, has been studied at LEAR using the CPLEAR detector. Relative branching ratios are given for X = pi(0), 2 pi(0), 3 pi(0), w in the rho case,and for X = pi(0), eta in the f(2) case. The annihilation channel (p) over bar p --> rho 3 pi(0) has not been measured before. The fraction of P-wave annihilation is deduced from the ratio f(2) pi(0)/rho pi(0) to be 0.38 +/- 0.07, in good agreement with the result previously obtained by CPLEAR from the ratio K+K-/pi(+)pi(-).
