Structural variation from 1D chains to 3D networks: a systematic study of coordination number effect on the construction of coordination polymers using the terepthaloylbisglycinate liganden
The combination of terepthaloylbisglycinate (TBG(2-)) and metal ions at room temperature results in the formation of five coordination polymers formulated as [M(mu-TBG)(mu-H(2)O)(H(2)O)(2)]center dot(2)H(2)O, where M = Co (1) and Cu (2), [Mn(mu-TBG)(H(2)O)(4)]center dot 2H(2)O (3), [Cd(mu-TBG)(H(2)O)(3)]center dot 2H(2)O(4) and [Pb(mu-TBG)(H(2)O)(2)]center dot 3H(2)O (5). The dimensionality of the final product is affected by the coordination number of the metal ion. Thermal, reversible solvent uptake, magnetic and catalytic properties of these compounds have been investigated.en
