heal.abstractΗ παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία με τίτλο «Islands of Togetherness» έχει ως αντικείμενο την ανάπλαση της αυλής και του περιβάλλοντα χώρου του σχολικού συγκροτήματος στην οδό Συγγρού, στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Ο στόχος του σχεδιασμού είναι η αναβάθμιση της σχολικής αυλής, ώστε να ενισχυθεί ο ρόλος της ως μέρος του αστικού ιστού, υποστηρίζοντας νέες δραστηριότητες και βελτιώνοντας την καθημερινή εμπειρία των μαθητών. Αξιοποιώντας τα αποτελέσματα προηγούμενης ερευνητικής εργασίας με τίτλο «Η αυλή του σχολείου ως αστικός δημόσιος χώρος – Μελέτη τεσσάρων περιπτώσεων στο κέντρο της Θεσσαλονίκης» (Βελούζου, 2024), αναλύθηκαν υφιστάμενες σχολικές αυλές και ο τρόπος λειτουργίας τους. Σε συνδυασμό με την έλλειψη χώρων κοινωνικοποίησης και δραστηριοτήτων για παιδιά και νέους σε πυκνοκατοικημένες αστικές περιοχές, προέκυψε η ανάγκη αξιοποίησης των σχολικών αυλών, με την ένταξή τους σε ανοιχτούς χώρους που συνδέονται με τη γειτονιά. Το σχολικό συγκρότημα που επιλέχθηκε για τη μελέτη βρίσκεται στην οδό Συγγρού στη Θεσσαλονίκη και σχεδιάστηκε στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του 1930 από τον αρχιτέκτονα Θουκυδίδη Βαλεντή. Σήμερα, στο συγκρότημα στεγάζονται Δημοτικό, Γυμνάσιο και Λύκειο. Ωστόσο, ο περιβάλλων χώρος και η σχολική αυλή παρουσιάζουν προβλήματα που απαιτούν βελτίωση, όπως και ορισμένα σημεία στο κτίριο, τα οποία αναλύονται στη συνέχεια. Ο σχεδιασμός της πρότασης βασίστηκε σε τρεις κεντρικούς άξονες: την εξασφάλιση ανεμπόδιστης κίνησης για όλους τους χρήστες, τη διαμόρφωση των όψεων του κτιρίου με σκοπό την οργάνωση των ορίων και τη βελτίωση των συνθηκών διεξαγωγής των μαθημάτων, καθώς και τη δημιουργία μιας λειτουργικής κάτοψης που καλύπτει τις νέες ανάγκες του χώρου. Επιπλέον, προτείνονται δενδροφυτεύσεις, φυτεύσεις θάμνων, αστικός εξοπλισμός, καθώς και φωτισμός του οδικού δικτύου, του περιβάλλοντος χώρου και της σχολικής αυλής.el
heal.abstractThe present thesis, titled “Islands of Togetherness” focuses on the redevelopment of the schoolyard and surrounding area of the school complex located on Syggrou Street in Thessaloniki. The goal of the design is to enhance the role of the schoolyard within the urban fabric, supporting new activities while improving the students’ experience in the space. Based on the findings of a previous research project titled “The Schoolyard as an Urban Public Space – Four Case Studies in the Center of Thessaloniki” (Velouzou, 2024), existing schoolyards and their function were analyzed. In combination with the lack of socialization and activity spaces for children and young people in densely populated urban areas, the need emerged to make better use of schoolyards by opening them up to the neighborhood. The school complex chosen for this study is located on Syggrou Street in Thessaloniki and was designed in the early 1930s by the architect Thucydides Valentis. Today, the complex houses a Primary School, a Junior High School, and a High School. However, the surrounding area and the schoolyard exhibit issues that require improvement, as do certain parts of the building itself, which are analyzed in the following sections. The design proposal is structured around three main axes: ensuring unobstructed movement for all users, refining the building facades to organize the boundaries and improve learning conditions, and creating a functional floor plan that meets the space’s new needs. Additionally, the proposal includes tree planting, shrub compositions, urban equipment, as well as lighting for the road network, the surrounding area, and the schoolyard.en
