| heal.abstract | Στον τελευταίο αιώνα της Res Publica η σύγκλητος βρέθηκε πρόσωπο με πρόσωπο με το ερώτημα της διαχείρισης της εκτενούς αυτοκρατορίας. Αρχαίοι συγγραφείς όπως ο Κικέρων προσπάθησαν να δώσουν ερμηνείες και λύσεις σχετικά με το ζήτημα της οικουμενικότητας της Ρώμης. Ο Αύγουστος, μέσα από το προπαγανδιστικό του έργο, της έδωσε μορφή στο πλαίσιο των οικουμενικών του αξιώσεων, δίνοντας το παράδειγμα στους διαδόχους του. Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία εστιάζει σε ερωτήματα σχετικά με τις ρίζες της οικουμενικής ιδεολογίας και την εξέλιξή της, τις πηγές γύρω από αυτήν, πώς βίωναν οι πολίτες της αυτοκρατορίας την νέα πραγματικότητα και πως εκφραζόταν στην πράξη, τους τρόπους με τους οποίους χρησιμοποιήθηκε από τον αυτοκράτορα και την αυτοκρατορική αριστοκρατία και αν η αυτοκρατορία μπορούσε να αναγνωρίζει τον εαυτό της ως οικουμενική ή αποτέλεσε διπλωματικό τέχνασμα και μέσο προβολής ισχύος στην εσωτερική και εξωτερική πολιτική. Στην έρευνα έγινε και χρήση νομισμάτων, επιγραφών, αυτοκρατορικών επιστολών και άλλων αρχαιολογικών ευρημάτων. | el |
| heal.abstract | In the last century of Res Publica the senate found itself face to face with the question of managing the vast empire. Ancient writers such as Cicero attempted to provide interpretations and solutions to the question of Rome's universality. Augustus, through his propaganda, gave it shape in the frame of his ecumenical claims, setting an example for his successors. The present diplomatic work therefore focuses on questions about the roots of the universal ideology and its evolution, the sources around it, how the citizens of the empire experienced the new reality and how it was expressed in practice, the ways in which it was used by the emperor and the imperial aristocracy and whether the empire could recognize itself as universal or was a diplomatic device and a means of projecting power in domestic and foreign policy. Coins, inscriptions, imperial letters and other archaeological findings were also used in the research. | en |
