heal.abstract	Η συγκεκριμένη εργασία πραγματεύεται τη χρήση και τη σημασία των πήλινων σφραγισμάτων στο Πτολεμαϊκό βασίλειο και επικεντρώνεται στα αρχεία της νήσου Ελεφαντίνης, του Εντφού, της Νέας Πάφου και της Κυρήνης. Στα αρχεία αυτά φυλάσσονταν ενσφράγιστοι πάπυροι που αποτελούσαν έγγραφα με συναλλαγές δημοσίου και ιδιωτικού χαρακτήρα και επιστολές. Τα σφραγίσματα, φέροντας μυθολογικές παραστάσεις, ανδρικές και γυναικείες κεφαλές, ζώα και αντικείμενα διαφύλασσαν ακριβώς το απόρρητο του εγγράφου και συγχρόνως το επικύρωναν. Εξετάζοντας τα σφραγίσματα μπορούν να αντληθούν σημαντικές πληροφορίες για τον χαρακτήρα του αρχείου στο οποίο φυλάσσονταν, για τη χρονολόγηση του και για τις επαφές του με άλλες περιοχές του βασιλείου και με τη βασιλική αυλή. Ακόμα, τα εικονιστικά θέματα των σφραγισμάτων προσφέρουν πληροφορίες για τους κατόχους των σφραγίδων και για την πολιτική του εκάστοτε Πτολεμαίου, πορτρέτο του οποίου μπορεί εικονίζεται στα σφραγίσματα.	el
heal.abstract	This master thesis addresses the use and significance of clay seal impressions in the Ptolemaic kingdom and focuses on the archives of Elephantine Island, Edfu, New Paphos and Cyrene. These archives contained sealed papyri consisting of documents of public and private transactions and letters. The clay sealings, bearing mythological representations, male and female heads, animals and objects, were used to convey the secrecy of the document and at the same time validate it. By examining the sealings, important information can be obtained about the archive in which they were kept, their dating and their contacts with other areas of the kingdom and with the royal court. Furthermore, the pictorial subjects of the seals offer information about the owners of the seals and about the politics of the Ptolemy in question, whose portrait may be depicted on the sealings.	en
