| heal.abstract | One of the problems that E. Bitsakis has examined in his multifarious theo¬retical work is the problem of the “unity” between theory and practice, ac¬cording to the well known Marxian quest for a new type of philosophy. But above all he has been as a personality an incarnation of this unity to the extent that, theoretically, he has tried to escape the trap of a theory practiced as an “external complement” to practice, and that, practically, he has tried to live this theory in practice, being a communist militant in politics, but also show¬ing what communism means as a stance in everyday life. This remark presup¬poses the theoretical premise that, notwithstanding the relative neglect of an¬thropological and ethical issues within Marxist thought, which Bitsakis is one of those who have pointed out and criticized, vital for this thought is a human ideal, the ideal of “total man”, from which one could deduce a Marxian ethics. Bitsakis not only contributes theoretically to the supporting of this premise, but also practically is a living instance of this ideal. | en |
