| heal.abstract | Ο δημόσιος χώρος και η διαχείριση του επηρεάζεται άμεσα από τις κοινωνικές, πολιτικές και οικονομικές προκλήσεις που αντιμετωπίζει μια πόλη. Πρόκειται για ένα στοιχείο που ασχέτως της διάρκειάς του, αν είναι δηλαδή μόνιμο ή εφήμερο, συνεχώς επαναπροσδιορίζεται και επανανοηματοδοτείται από τα τεκταινόμενα της πόλης και τις ανάγκες των κατοίκων της. Οι δημόσιοι χώροι μιας πόλης συγκροτούν κατά κύριο λόγο την ταυτότητα της. Σήμερα διαφαίνεται ότι η απουσία σχεδιασμού έχει οδηγήσει στη δημιουργία πυκνοδομημένων πόλεων και υπολειμματικών, αμήχανων δημόσιων χώρων, όπου λαμβάνουν χώρα οι ανθρώπινες συναναστροφές και διάφορες δραστηριότητες. Αυτή είναι μια πρόκληση που οι αρχιτέκτονες έχουν διαχρονικά κληθεί να αντιμετωπίσουν. Μια διακριτή τυπολογία δημόσιων χώρων είναι αυτή των υπερυψωμένων αστικών πεζοδρόμων και πλατειών. Η ιδέα του διαχωρισμού των κυκλοφοριών ως εργαλείο της αρχιτεκτονικής έχει τις ρίζες της στις αρχές του μοντερνισμού. Παρόλα αυτά, η υπερύψωση του δημόσιου χώρου έχει υπάρξει αρχιτεκτονικό όραμα πολλά χρόνια πριν αναγνωριστεί ως στοχευμένη επίλυση αστικού ενδιαφέροντος. Σήμερα, με νέες πλέον αφορμές έχει επανέλθει στο προσκήνιο. Σκοπός της παρούσας έρευνας αποτελεί αφενός η αναζήτηση των λόγων που οδήγησαν στην υπερύψωση του αστικού χώρου και αφετέρου η ανάλυση και κατανόηση των επιπτώσεων που αυτό έχει επιφέρει στην πόλη και το άτομο. Παράλληλα, θα αναζητηθούν οι λόγοι για τους οποίους η ανύψωση θα μπορούσε να αποτελεί εργαλείο επίλυσης αστικών προβλημάτων, αλλά ταυτόχρονα και μια σχεδιαστική πρακτική για την θεώρηση στοιχείων του αστικού περιβάλλοντος με νέο τρόπο. Η διερεύνηση μια πληθώρας παραδειγμάτων σκοπεύει να επιτύχει την κατηγοριοποίησή τους με βάση τις αφορμές για τη δημιουργία τους, τη σχέση τους με το επίπεδο του εδάφους, καθώς και τις δυνατότητες επέκτασής τους σε ένα ευρύτερο δίκτυο δημόσιων χώρων. Μπορεί τελικά μια πρακτική που έχει εφαρμοστεί στις πόλεις επανειλημμένα ανά τα χρόνια να επιφέρει τα αποτελέσματα που οραματίζονταν οι αρχιτέκτονες- δημιουργοί του παρελθόντος στην πόλη του σήμερα; | el |
| heal.abstract | Public space and its management are directly affected by the social, political and economic challenges a city is facing. It is an element that, regardless of its duration, whether it is permanent or ephemeral, is constantly redefined and reinterpreted by what is happening in the city and the needs of its inhabitants. The streets and public space of a city mainly constitute its identity. Today it seems that the lack of urban planning has led to the creation of densely populated cities and mediocre, awkward public spaces, where human gatherings and various activities take place. This is a challenge that architects have long been called upon to face. A distinct typology of public spaces is that of elevated urban pedestrian walkways and squares. The idea of traffic separation as a tool of architecture has its roots in the principles of modernism. Nevertheless, the elevation of public space had been an architectural vision for many years before it was recognized as a targeted solution of urban interest. Today, because of current occasions, it has returned to the forefront. The purpose of this research paper is twofold; on one hand, it aims at the discovery of the reasons that led to the elevation of urban space and, on the other hand, it illustrates an analysis and understanding of the effects that this has brought to the city and the individual. At the same time, the essay seeks to find reasons why elevating public space could work as a tool for solving urban problems, while also whether it can be regarded as a design practice for considering elements of the urban environment in a new way. The investigation of a multitude of examples intends to achieve their categorization based on the reasons for their creation, their relationship with the ground level, as well as the possibilities of their expansion into a wider network of public spaces. After all, could a practice that has been applied to cities repeatedly over the years bring the results envisioned by the architects-creators of the past in the city of today? | en |
